Most hemodialysis machine breakdowns we see in the field are preventable. Here are the problems our technicians meet most often and what centres can do about them.
Conductivity and temperature alarms
Often caused by scale in the hydraulic circuit or worn concentrate pumps. Regular citric-heat disinfection with Thrive Citrix 21 keeps scale under control.
Blood leak and pressure sensor faults
Protein and blood residue on sensors cause false alarms. Follow the disinfection programme after every treatment day and replace sensor filters on schedule.
Water quality issues
Poor RO water affects every machine on the loop. Monitor conductivity daily and keep to the filter and membrane schedule for the RO plant.
Power interruptions
Machines with battery backup, such as the ThriveHD with its 30-minute battery, protect patients during short outages. Make sure batteries are tested during preventive maintenance.
Preventive maintenance
A planned maintenance contract with documented checks is cheaper than emergency repairs and downtime. Contact your regional team to set up a schedule.
